Warning Signs of Mental Health Issues in Female Adolescents
Mental health challenges can affect individuals of any age; however, female adolescents frequently experience issues that may indicate underlying mental health concerns. Some warning signs of mental health challenges include:
- Lack of interest in activities that they previously enjoyed
- A change in personality, whether that be irritability and anger or even sadness and depression
- Withdrawing socially, such as no longer wishing to spend time with their friends and social isolation
- Bad decision making and risk taking behaviors
- Academic performance issues, including slipping grades or skipping classes
- Suicidal thoughts or talking about suicide or self-harm
Inpatient Treatment for Adults
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five adults in the United States is living with a mental illness, ranging from mild to severe.
We treat medically stable adults age 18 and up. Adult patients may have co-occurring substance use disorders plus behavioral issues, but the admission falls under psychiatric care. Hospital admission for adult patients who need inpatient mental health care is voluntary.
